What actually happens in a free system health check?
The "free system health check" mentioned across our site is one thing: a 60-minute online meeting plus a one-page assessment summary. It's meant to answer "can we take this on, and is it worth it" — not a full architecture audit. If you want a deeper handover assessment afterward, we'll scope and quote that separately.
What's included
- A takeover-readiness call: green / yellow / red, with a one-line reason
- A 5-point basic check: code structure and framework version, deployment method, whether the database backup actually runs, obvious security red flags, and whether any handover documentation exists
- The 3 issues you should fix first, ranked by risk
- A next-step recommendation — maintain as-is, clean up first then maintain, or rebuild — direction only, no quote
What's not included
- Line-by-line code review or unit test coverage analysis
- Load testing or database query tuning
- Penetration testing or vulnerability scanning (requires separate written authorization)
- Any actual fixes, deployment, or configuration changes
- Detailed effort estimates or a formal quote
- Third-party license compliance audits
What you should have ready
- Read-only access to the source code (a Git repo invite, or a zip archive)
- A basic description of your hosting/cloud environment — where it runs, who manages it, and whether there's an admin panel
- Context on the current state — who built it, how long it's been untouched, and what's bothering you most right now
You don't need to hand over production credentials. If something requires login access to assess, we'll walk through it together on the call.
You'll get the assessment summary and takeover-readiness rating within 3 business days of us having everything we need.
The initial health check's conclusions are based on the materials you provide and what can be observed within 60 minutes — it's professional judgment, not a guarantee. No penetration testing or full audit is performed, so it doesn't rule out other risks. The report is for your internal decision-making only.
